Oral health is fundamental to overall health. Decades of experience with community water fluoridation has demonstrated that it is safe, prevents cavities, improves oral health and has health benefit across the lifespan, as well as economic benefit. Allison Leader and David Leader will discuss the effectiveness, safety, and economics of water fluoridation and its effect on access to dental care. Nearly 24 million Americans live in dental care shortage area. Fluoridation reduces the need for dental care which lessens the burden on the oral healthcare system.
